Smart wins huge education tender in Turkey

Private education group, FEM, has chosen Smart for a large scale installation of 5,000 Smart Board 885 interactive whiteboards in Turkey.
The installation of the first 3,000 will be completed in early autumn 2012 and the group aims to install an additional 2,000 interactive whiteboards by the end of the year.
FEM owns hundreds of university preparation and English language centres in Turkey. It has been using Smart Board interactive whiteboards in educational institutions throughout the Turkish region of Marmara for the past year.
FEM is a member of a large international diversified organisation that owns numerous schools in more than 100 countries worldwide, including charter schools in the US which serve 20,000 students.

Love that Marmara sees the importance of technology in the classroom however, I’m sad to see that no research was done for other technology that has won numerous awards over SMART and cost 1/3 of the price. As a teacher who used Mimio in my classroom and now demonstrates them in schools, it kills me to see how much money goes into such bulky boards that take up whiteboard space that teachers always want.
