Midwich buys Irish AV distributor Square One Distribution

Founded in 2004, Square One is a trade-only distributor of a-v products to a-v dealers, IT resellers and custom installers for the residential market. The company has a portfolio of brands including Panasonic, Hitachi and Dynalite.

Midwich finance director Stephen Fenby said the distributor had increased its sales into Ireland in recent years, despite it not having a local office.

Square One will continue to be run by general manager Garnett Stewart, who commented: ‘I expect that Midwich’s size and financial strength will be a comfort and encouragement to our staff and vendors alike.’

Square One’s shareholders, Criostoir and Ronan McLaughlin, have ceased to be involved in the business following the transaction, and will focus on their core business interest of Meritec Presentation Products Limited. This means that Square One will become a trade-only distributor.

No financial details of the acquisition were announced.
