Tandberg has donated six of its bedside video systems to the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital in Edinburgh. The ‘babycams’ will be used to link mothers to their newborns via video-conferencing in situations where they have been separated from their babies by premature births and other medical complications.

The donation will expand a service supported by the Scottish Centre for Telehealth (SCT).

‘The use of T150s as babycams is just one of the innovative ways to use video in healthcare. It is thanks to consultants like Christopher Lilley, who drove the adoption of babycams at the Princess Royal Maternity, and the SCT, that we will see more mothers benefiting from video technology in hospitals,’ said Steve Woollett, head of public sector business at Tandberg.

‘There are many other benefits of using video in healthcare, such as remote diagnosis, cost savings from the transportation of CD/VHS records between physical sites, training, enhancing collaboration and time management in cancer treatment.’
