Manchester University hires Crestron and Roche AV

A recent upgrade of the audio visual equipment at the University of Manchester features a system for students and lecturers at the University.

Featuring Crestron’s Quick Media multimedia controller, the installation was carried out by North West integrator, Roche AV.

The new system covers teaching rooms across two floors of the newly refurbished Roscoe Building. The fast track project included a full refit of all audio visual equipment with Roche AV working alongside a project team that included network and electrical contractors as well as the furniture supplier iDesk.

Among the new teaching rooms is a teaching zone that contains 34 student PCs built into custom designed furniture clusters that feature retractable screens.

This teaching space also has a main presentation desk and projectors and interactive boards at each end of the room.

In addition five flat screen displays are available together with two more screens in breakout rooms across the corridor.

The tutor’s desk features DVD, VCR, visual presenter, PC is linkable to any display alongside, two ceiling mounted PTZ cameras and two interactive whiteboards.

A Crestron TPS-15G-QM touchpanel provides a graphical layout of the room to allow linking of source and display configurations.
