Saville Audio Visual is to distribute Archipod, a ‘garden office’ concept equipped with HD videoconferencing technology.
Archipod is a revolutionary, self contained facility, specifically conceived to be efficient, ergonomic and unusual and to complement a garden landscape.
Designed as an insulated sphere 3m in diameter, the ‘Pod’ is constructed predominantly from timber, to be ‘environmentally friendly’, and is insulated to a standard ‘exceeding that of current building regulations’.
A larger 4m version is also available.
The structure is built from prefabricated sections so that all the parts can be carried through a house and into a back garden. Because of its unique shape and the generous natural light from the roof dome, the ‘Pod’ is said to feel bigger on the inside than the outside.
Archipod designer Chris Sneesby said: ‘Having a strong environmental policy is very important to us. One of our major influences was frustration at the commuting lifestyle, with its attendant road congestion, air and noise pollution, road rage, running costs and time loss. We wanted to do something to hopefully encourage more people to work from home by providing a high quality working environment without the need to commute and reduce environmental impact by its use.’
