The University of Chicago is using Haivision’s Furnace IP video delivery system to make 14 live broadcast channels available to most buildings across campus, and to support the broadcast of live on-campus events to more than 14,000 students and staff.
The Haivision Furnace IP video delivery system gives users on the University of Chicago network access to broadcast TV (SD) and live coverage of on-campus events, either with Haivision’s InStream soft player on their desktops and laptops, or via Haivision’s Stingray set-top boxes (STBs) installed in common areas and various university departments. The InStream player requires no software or hardware installation.
The University of Chicago’s Office of University Communications has used the Furnace system to enable viewing of live events such as ceremonies, and presentations by visitors to the university.
