Cabletime, the manufacturer of MediaStar digital distribution systems, has launched Evolution Digital Media Decoder (780 HD/SD), a new addition to its Evolution IP product range.
The Evolution Digital Media Decoder (780 HD/SD) is designed to deliver TV, digital signage and digital media in both HD and SD over the IP network.
Billed as an ‘out of the box’ solution, the decoder can operate in a standalone mode, or networked under the control of the MediaStar Evolution administration software. This allows the Decoder to deliver pre-programmed digital media content at times specified by the user.
The Decoder plays locally stored HD and SD video files from its onboard memory, and decoding both SD and HD H.264 and MPEG-2 encoded network streams, so that the user can programme a combination of both live streamed content and file based media.
Because it also includes an onboard rendering engine, the Decoder can display SD TV inputs at HD output resolutions, and handles Powerpoint presentations, converted to HTML, JPEG and PNG files and web pages delivered in real time via a Firefox browser.
