Market Survey – Distribution: Heading for the cloud

Commenting on the deal, Lee Baker, business manager at Midwich, said: ‘The demand for video conferencing is growing and the market is now estimated to be worth £180 million, rising to over £450m by 2015. Travel budgets are being squeezed by economic pressures and the chaos caused by the recent British Airways strikes was compounded by a cloud of dust from an Icelandic volcano that disrupted flights across Europe. Clearly, video conferencing is more compelling now than ever before and we are delighted to sign such a strong brand.’

Darren Lewitt, divisional director at Midwich, said: ‘Not many people will know that Radvision actually invented many of today’s video conferencing protocols and set the standards through its competitors for many years. Radvision is at last focusing on rolling out its own brand whilst making HD video conferencing more affordable and keeping the margin in the channel for its specialist resellers.  Radvision’s open technology solutions will be a significant benefit for the market. I believe it was a good decision for Radvision to partner with Samsung for its integrated display solutions and the company can look forward to tapping into our database of av reseller partners.

Lee Hooker, AV general sales manager at Midwich, added: ‘Midwich is making a significant investment in video conferencing and we will appoint several specialists to provide technical support and guidance. This team will be headed by a new sales manager and we will be looking to add two further product specialists before the end of the year. Demonstration facilities will be available in London and at Radvision’s HQ in Stockley Park, Uxbridge. We will also have a demo room at our offices in Diss, Norfolk.’
