The manufacturer offers a wide range of projectors that meet the varying needs of business clients.
The technology that is used in business is reflective of how a company sees itself and, more importantly, how customers see it. In the business projector space, this is especially true as they are often the medium for sharing presentations, video and images with current or potential customers. Content needs to be crisp, clear and visually appealing, but there are a number of other factors that also need to be considered when deciding on the make and model that is right for you.
If you have an office or meeting room with restricted space, or perhaps are on the road a lot visiting customers, a mobile projector is probably the right choice for you. Sony’s M-Series range of projectors (VPL-MX20 and VPL-MX25) have been designed for style-conscious professionals in a contemporary metallic chassis.
These slim and stylish XGA projectors are extremely lightweight – coming in at only 1.7kg – and are housed in a tough magnesium body, perfect for the travelling executive. Both projectors have 2500 Colour Light Output/lumens and come with a host of innovative user-friendly features such as a ‘5 Step Auto Intelligent Set Up’ and an ‘Off and Go’ function, meaning they can be unplugged immediately after use without risk of damaging the lamp. The two models both feature Sony’s new ‘BrightEra™ with Long Lasting Optics’ panel technology. This is a more advanced version of Sony’s original BrightEra™ technology, which was developed to deliver improved panel light resistance, higher brightness, higher resolution and increased panel reliability.
The right choice
If you have a dedicated meeting area then an installation projector may be the better choice for you. In addition to fantastic image quality, other factors that you should consider are the expected lifespan of the product and the cost of ownership, particularly power consumption and lamp life. Sony has been working hard on developing a product that combines these factors, and will shortly announce the VPL-FX30, an XGA, 4,200 Lumens LCD Installation Projector with a vast range of adjustment, and BrightEra for higher quality colour and a longer lifespan. With an excellent 4,200 ANSI lumens output and XGA resolution, the VPL-FX30 is a versatile choice for a wide range of applications. Able to project detailed, sharp images onto screens up to 600ins (diagonal) and with a comprehensive range of adjustments to help installers, this outstanding projector can slot into almost any type of venue.
The wide zoom ratio of the new FX range is designed to meet the requirements of retro-fit installations, where mounting points and cabling cannot be altered for the new projector. By massively increasing the LCD panel’s resistance to ultraviolet light, BrightEra improves reliability and also shows its superiority over other LCD panels by allowing an increased aperture ratio, which results in a much brighter image, without the drawbacks that can affect other types of high-brightness systems. Fully kitted out with all the I/O you’ll need – including a network connection – it’s easy to connect and manage.
Flexible options
If you have a larger lecture theatre, auditorium or even classroom, image quality, cost of ownership and expected lifespan of the product are also very important considerations, but it is often the case that there is not an obvious place for the installation itself so flexibility in this regard is absolutely key. This has been one of the key considerations in the development of the soon-to-be announced VPL-FX500.
Featuring a wide range of lens-shift adjustment and interchangeable lenses, this is a projector that installers can easily fit into awkward places, often reusing mounts and fixtures. Outstanding image quality is just one of the many benefits of Sony’s 3 LCD-BrightEra technology, and by reducing the effects of UV light, it lengthens panel life, brightens the image and improves colour rendition. Maintenance is kept to an absolute minimum. Automatic lamp-switching means that at the end of a lamp’s working life, another one, already in place, is brought into use, which halves the number of maintenance visits.
Through capture, creation, editing and finally displaying / sharing digital content, Sony understands the inherent challenges of the projection market. This gives you a brief overview of what Sony can offer you, but for further information, please visit the website listed below.
