In a story dated 5 Jan 2010, entitled ‘Sony exits EMEA video conferencing market’, we said Sony had already pulled out of the North American market in 2007.
When in fact, Sony stopped selling its video conferencing products direct in 2007, and turned over its North American video conferencing business to a ‘master distributor’ – Spire Global, who continue to sell the products to this day.
As a master distributor, Spire Global sells Sony’s VC products to distributors and resellers but does not sell products directly to end-users. All Sony video conferencing products can be ordered from Spire Global, who provides the sales, distribution and service support functions for the IPELA video conferencing group.
We are happy to clarify the situation, and hope we have cleared up any confusion we may have caused.
