Wainhouse Research reports worldwide drop in videoconferencing hardware sales

Worldwide videoconferencing hardware spends were 6 per cent down in Q2 2009 in comparison with the same period last year, says Wainhouse Research.

End point sales were down to 55,000 units, against 59,000 units in Q2 2008. Unit sales peaked in Q4 last year at 62,000 units, 52,000 of which were room systems.

In a chart showing vendors’ market share, Wainhouse asserts that Tandberg has 40 per cent of the world market, followed by Polycom (34 per cent), Team China (13 per cent), Sony (4 per cent) and Aethra (2 per cent). Other vendors have 7 per cent between them.
