Clarity has announced a 1m investment programme after becoming Promethean’s newest Irish distributor. Clarity is an IT distributor and is part of the Westcoast group, it has said the money will be spent on new employees, additional facilities, Irish marketing campaigns and the implementation of a nationwide channel partner programme on behalf of Promethean.
Promethean said the appointment of Clarity was in response to the strong growth potential of the Irish market, where Promethean has achieved a 225 per cent jump in sales of its ActivBoards between 2007 and 2008 and holds 40 per cent market share in Q2 2009 (Futuresource, July 2009).
Clarity supplies computer and networking products to the Irish channel, and has a turnover of €115m in 2008 and 40 sales, training and engineering employees based all over the country.
Graham Byrne, head of Ireland for Promethean, said, ‘There are huge opportunities for Promethean in Ireland. Independent research shows that only 20 per cent of Ireland’s 32,000 classrooms are currently equipped with interactive learning technologies. The market penetration rate is forecast to grow to almost 57 per cent – 18,000 classrooms – by 2012.’
