Tullow Oil has installed MeetingZone’s integrated audio and web conferencing to help make cost savings and improve communication within the organisation and with external partners and suppliers.
‘With interests in over 85 exploration and production licences across 22 countries and a focus on four core areas: Africa, Europe, South Asia and South America, Tullow is an established conferencing user,’ explained Sarah Dodd, the group’s project manager for business systems. ‘The company has grown considerably over the last two years and we realised that we needed to consolidate our audio and web conferencing tools. Several different conferencing service providers were being used which meant it was difficult to monitor, manage or forecast our conferencing expenditure.’
Following an evaluation of conferencing and collaboration service providers, including those already in place within Tullow Oil, MeetingZone was chosen as the preferred supplier.
‘Combined audio and web conferencing is an effective business communications tool for Tullow and has the potential to save us thousands of pounds on reducing travel to our overseas offices for training,’ said Andrew Marks, Chief Information Officer at Tullow. ‘For example, our IT department holds monthly training sessions on our internal IT systems. Using audio and web conferencing this training now takes place without anyone having to leave their desks, participants simply dial in to the conference call. Additionally, MeetingZone’s services now bring together our new employees, regardless of their location, for our monthly induction sessions.’
Although MeetingZone’s audio and web conferencing system is used across Tullow for internal and external business meetings of all types, it is of particular benefit for collaboration between its exploration and development technical teams. Both teams hold daily or weekly meetings to deliver drilling status updates.
All employees, including new starters, are entitled to be issued with a Tullow branded conferencing card which details the dial in number to access MeetingZone’s services and an individual access code to join conferences.
