Madrid is bolstering its bid for the Olympic Games in 2016 with 3D technology that works without glasses. The city, which is aiming to impress the Olympic Committee for 2016 after narrowly missing out on the 2012 Games, rolled out a 3D presentation to 200 people at the official presentation last week.
The presentation, through Picture Production Company (PPC), used Philips 3D autostereoscopic WOWvx technology. Content featured what Madrid has to offer, which was shown to guests on special 42in 3D monitors.
Marc Diaz Williams, event organiser, said: ‘Using the Philips 3D without glasses literally allowed us to show a stand-out presentation. PPC3D both developed the animated presentation, and set-up and supplied all the hardware.’
Ben Nicholls, PPC business development director, added: ‘To be able to showcase this technology at such a high-profile event serves to illustrate just what an impact it can make – it really took people’s breath away. We believe that 3D TV is the future as far as digital signage is concerned and the commercial possibilities it presents are endless.’
PPC offers 3DTV content creation and conversion services, as well as being official resellers of the 3D displays.
