Wanting to bring the advantages of telepresence to a wider audience, Tandberg has announce three new strategic moves. The company unveiled its immersive Telepresence T3 system, which builds on the experience gained with its TP Experia model. T3 has three screens, the same as the previous models, but this time they are bigger, 65″, with thinner vessels and with PrecisionHD 1080p cameras that provide the true to life images. To achieve an even better eye contact, the cameras have been mounted up side down.
T3 comes in two flavours: the screens, desk and codec or a Scandinavian style room with everything built in. The development team, including a social anthropologist, collaborated with customer groups to evaluate preferred designs, colours and room set-ups to optimize the user experience. Blue walls the colour of the Nordic sky and specialized room lighting create a natural appearance, and warm wood walls, aluminum and glass provide an exclusive finish.
The Table comes with pop up touch screens to share data and manage the system.
The Tandberg Telepresence T3 is interoperable with all standards-compliant PC, desktop and room video systems, including HD systems. The native interoperability of the Telepresence T3 means participants can connect easily when and where they need to without being locked into a specific system, network or bandwidth.
The company has also released a new TP server, an interface component that allows to link up any type of standards-compliant video system to a Tandberg telepresence meeting at the best possible quality, including HD.
Built on Codian infrastructure, the Telepresence Server also provides robustness and reliability through its transcoding technology, which allows systems with varying capabilities on different networks with different bandwidths to join into the same telepresence meeting. The Telepresence Server becomes a platform for scalability as an organization’s use of telepresence grows.
Finally, the company decided to take a more proactive role on providing customers with a more comprehensive visual communications experience and it has launched Tandberg Total Service.
Working in collaboration with its partners, the idea is to have certified companies that will provide managed services. Through a network of people, processes and equipment the company wants to offer customers one globally available, yet locally synchronized, solution.
Tandberg’s comprehensive certification program for managed service providers requires the availability of fully managed or hosted global services from dedicated Video Network Operation Centers (VNOC). Certified suppliers will also provide concierge services, Web and telephone reservations, continuous help desk support, and proactive testing and monitoring before, during and after meetings. Certification guarantees customers IP and ISDN gateway services, universal bridging, event recording and streaming, and ad hoc VNOC services.
