Midwich has signed an agreement with Canon to distribute its high-resolution LCOS projectors. The six ‘XEED’ series addresses a growing demand for higher-resolution business projectors. Midwich’s specialist ‘Hi-Technology’ division, launched in January 2008, reported a 240 per cent annual increase in sales of high-resolution projectors.

Darren Lewitt, divisional director at Midwich, said: ‘The increased on native resolutions monitors and laptops – with many models now operating at SXGA+ or above – has awakened users to the visual possibilities offered by higher resolution projectors. The Canon XEED series will appeal to business users, but these projectors can also be used for specialist applications such as CAD, simulation and medical imaging. We see this as incremental business as none of our existing vendors offer LCOS technology or have a dedicated SXGA+ strategy.’

The XEED SX60, SX80, SX6, and SX7 models offer native SXGA+ 1400 x 1050 resolution. The SXGA+ resolution can project 3.1 times the display area of SVGA and 1.9 times the area of XGA to clearly display large amounts of detailed information, such as multiple PC windows, simultaneously.
