Editor’s Comment: The debate over digital signage

Speaking to AV Magazine yesterday co-founder and executive chairman David Martin stressed the emphasis on the products, called Smart Corporate Solutions, would be to make them as easy to use as possible for the ‘occasional user’ in the office environment, rather than providing a range of training programmes.  The analogy Martin gave was with the PC, pointing out that you don’t need to know every function of it to get it to work effectively for you.
The differences between the way the education and corporate sectors use interactive whiteboards – the corporate market will be primarily just using them to collaborate in meetings – means that providing the same levels of training to both isn’t necessary.

Martin also confirmed that voting systems are not part of the corporate package at the moment.

Smart Corporate Solutions is a suite of data-conferencing and interactive displays products to connect multiple meeting rooms, making it possible for teams in several locations to simultaneously meet and collaborate.

The three products, Meeting Pro, Hub SE and Hub PE work with any Smart Board interactive whiteboard or interactive display and allow distributed teams to conduct live, interactive meetings from multiple sites anywhere in the world. Users can utilise touch screen commands or write in digital ink over any application, as well as generate and integrate data and information, which can be instantly viewed, shared and saved by team members from other locations as if they were in the same room.

The Corporate Solutions suite can be integrated into back-office and IP infrastructures as part of a unified communications approach.

Steljes is the exclusive distributor in the UK for Smart Technologies.
