‘MeetingZone’s audio conferencing solution enables us to deliver business communications tools to approximately 12,000 of our employees in the UK, allowing them to quickly and easily communicate and collaborate with who they want, when they want regardless of location,’ said Sameira Ahmed, IS & Telecoms, supply chain management for the National Grid. ‘Audio conferencing has helped to improve internal and external communications and improve employee productivity and efficiency as they no longer have to travel to and from meetings.’

National Grid is committed to help tackle climate change and is continually looking at ways in which it can make sure that its business is sustainable and responsible. ‘A reduction in business travel results in a reduction of our carbon footprint,’ added Ahmed. ‘So not only does MeetingZone’s solution help us to reduce expenditure associated with travel, including the ‘soft cost’ of dead time when travelling, it allows us to help the environment.’

MeetingZone has been supplying audio conferencing services to National Grid since 2004 but as National Grid is a regulated business and is governed by EU procurement rules, audio conferencing was put out to tender in 2007.

MeetingZone is working closely with National Grid on an internal marketing campaign, which includes on-site visits, to increase awareness of the benefits of audio conferencing and to encourage all employees to register for a MeetingZone account.
