Betfair Adds Video

Betfair has installed video distribution systems able to deliver 180 channels of TV across its UK office network.

The online betting exchange, which matches bets between punters and processes more than 300 bets per second during peak hours, is used to help provide up-to-the-minute sporting results.

Having initially put systems into its offices in Hammersmith and Tasmania, Betfair has expanded the use of the system to its Stevenage heqdquarters.

It initially used two Cabletimes MediaStar Compact systems to deliver up to 332 channels, but the latest upgrade has seen it move to  MediaStar Pro, which can provide up to 180 channels of live TV across the Cat-5e/6 cabling. 

The installation was managed by systems integrator Decibel Managed Systems on behalf of Audio Visual Machines.
