Tandberg Adds It Support

Tandberg UK and Ireland has formed a videoconferencing channel support partnership with IT integrator Horizon Technology Group.

Horizon Solutions, part of the group, will work with Tandbergs Premier and Certified partners to help integrate videoconferencing and IT requirements.

We dont use the word distribution, because what we want to focus on is helping to develop our partners, said Tandberg UK and Ireland md Paul Gullet.We have been specifically looking for a company with the networking infrastructure skills that Horizon has. More and more, we have to integrate the standard solutions that our partners have been delivering with a customers IT infrastructure. Horizon will help our partners with that integration challenge.

In the UK we have a Platinum tier of partners, a Premier tier and a Certified tier. Horizon Solutions is going to be working with the Ppremier and Certified partners. We will still have Tandberg personnel working alongside Horizon Solutions with those partners. This is not a letting go of those partners, it is adding resource and capability into how we work with them.

We will also continue to develop the Platinum partners, Gullet added. They have a much stronger revenue stream from Tandberg infrastructure products already, so are able to make the investments required to deal with the IT integration challenge.

As voice and data convergence becomes a commercial reality, video is rapidly transitioning over to IP, said Wayne Gratton, technical director for Horizon Technologys Enterprise Solutions division.

The fusion of traditional voice/video skills with more IP centric skills will yield big dividends.
