LifeSize videoconferencing systems are now being distributed in the UK by new Maverick sales arm Convergent.

The Lifesize deal was one of several announced by Convergent at the group’s TechEvent show, held at Mercedes-Benz World on April 17. The a-v/IT distribution operation is also handling Sonic Foundry’s MediaSite product, 3Touch presentation management software, Cabletime, Netpractise and Clear One.

‘We have been going direct to dealers, but we need to get to more resellers’, said LifeSize UK manager Simon Dudley, who estimated that LifeSize videoconferencing systems have already achieved a 12-15 per cent share of the UK market. ‘We want to revolutionise the market by reaching a-v resellers as well as videoconferencing specialists’, he added, saying that LifeSize is winning 80 per cent of the bids it is involved with, but that it is only being asked to compete on 10 per cent of the tenders being put out.

The company is also targeting end users. It plans to show at next month’s AV in the City show (Canary Wharf, May 2) and to make a major user push in conjunction with Convergent and PC World Business.
