Corporate communications has used every moving image system available, but the nature of the medium has shaped the message over the last 40 years. Peter Lloyd reminisces.

Profile: Dan Crompton, AV Service Manager, Tate

Crompton began his AV career as an AV technician at the Architectural Association in 1981. He was then freelance from 1984-1997 as a musician and AV engineer. He then has spells at the Commonwealth Institute, Brunel University, and London Business School. He joined Tate as AV service manager in 2007, and describes himself as coming from the ‘old school’ AV tradition i.e. no formal qualifications as such, but with a very broad skill set across lighting, sound, image display and media production.

Profile: Neil Martin, Barclays Bank

Neil Martin started his career in AV 21 years ago as a technician’s assistant at Sedgwick Group and worked his way up to technical manager. He then joined Credit Suisse First Boston as European project manager. Since then he has occupied positions with Feltech and Electrosonic.

Profile: Roland Jones, Vue Cinemas

Jones started as a consultant with Andersen Consulting and later moved into the media and entertainment industry working with broadcasters and computer games publishers. He is currently the IT director at Vue Entertainment, which owns the Vue Cinemas chain. He is a voting member at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
