AV’s latest survey of the live event production and staging sector threw up a story of flat or declining budgets and a diminishing number of client events, says Peter Lloyd. Interactive technology could change that, but face-to-face needs to fit into a changing communications value chain.
AV conducted an online survey looking at the live events market in mid-2012 (after the London Olympics) and we have repeated the exercise this year, with a survey carried out in August. During both surveys the majority of responses came from event production companies and rental/staging firms, with some input from venues (30 per cent of this year’s total) and clients (15 per cent on both occasions).
